MINISTRY: 'The Last Sucker' Release Date Announced
July 3, 2007MINISTRY has set a September 18 release date for its new album, entitled "The Last Sucker". The CD, which features a guest appearance by FEAR FACTORY frontman Burton Bell on two tracks ("End of Days Part I" and "End of Days Part II", will be MINISTRY's final album, and like its two predecessors — 2004's "Houses of the Mole" and last year's "Rio Grande Blood" — it will be politically minded blast at the administration of President George W. Bush.
Watch a video message from the group's mainman Al Jourgensen announcing the new album release date at YouTube.
In a May 2006 interview with Billboard.com, Jourgensen stated about the upcoming CD, "It's a trilogy. The next one's going to be called 'The Last Sucker', and it's also about this corrupt administration. That seems to be my muse; everyone seems to think I write real shitty music when a Democrat's in office. So we'll do that one, and then me and George Bush go riding off hand-in-hand, into the sunset."
Regarding his decision to put MINISTRY to rest, Jourgensen said, "I've got other things to do. I just started a label (13th Planet Records),and I want to sign some bands and really build it up like I did with WaxTrax in the '80s, not just a vanity label. I think it's time — and I'll be leaving on the top of my game instead of hanging on too long and doing crappy AEROSMITH and ROLLING STONES albums 30 years later."
MINISTRY was nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the song "Lies Lies Lies" off "Rio Grande Blood".
This was the fourth Grammy nomination for Jourgensen and MINISTRY, who were also nominated in 1993, 2000 and 2005 (for "The Great Satan").
